Includes folkloric stories, conversation (concerning religion, sons in the military, letters from friends), and a variety of elicitations to test freedom of word order between two generations of speakers, classificatory verbs, word pairs with contrast of vowel length and stress, verb affixes and suffixes, and immediate and regular imperative verbs. Recorded at the Cherokee Indian Reservation, North Carolina from 1951-1952.

Traditional and Christian songs in the Ottawa and Chippewa languages, recorded with numerous singers in multiple communities in Michigan in the mid-1950s. Recorded as part of Gertrude Kurath's broader study of contemporary religion and music among Anishinaabe communities in Michigan. Includes traditional songs, Catholic and Methodists hymns, and Free Methodist revival meetings, including some benedictions. Also includes one talk entitled, "Longfellow's Use of Michigan Indian Tales."
